Emphasis on Packaging Education

   Leaders of Our Institute have placed an emphasis on packaging education eversince the very beginning. They formed the idea of "raising the banner packaging education, and training talented with unique characte-ristics". The Undergraduate Speciality of Packaging Engine-ering (the first speciality in packaging education)was run successfully in 1989 and listed in the enrollment catalogue approved by the National Education Com-mittee, which marked a historic breakthrough in China pack-aging higher education.
    Aiming at "Big Packaging", our Institute has offered a Group of CoursesandSpecial-ities. Among the 25 undergraduate speciali-ties, there are 15 specialized in packagingor intergrated with packaging. So the coursesoffered have developed from the first Packa-ging Engineering to 32 varied courses like Packaging Designing, Packaging Printing, Packaging Mechanics, Packaging Economy, Packaging Material, Packaging Process Automation etc..
    Upon the assessment of the Ministry of Education, the following -Art Designing (the filed of Packaging Designing), Packaging Engineering, Printing Engineering (the field of Packaging Printing), Mechanical Designing and Automation, Industrial Designing, Automation (the field of Process Automation), Advertising etc. have been listed as "State-Supervised-Specialities", 14 specialities have been named as "hot specialities" by the Department of Education of Hunan Province which are in great need in society.
   Our Institute is on the way to perfect its packaging courses and enhance the course construction though the "1310" Project. Packaging Engineering, Printing Engineering, Art Designing have been listed as provincial key specialities, and Packaging Engineering, Packaging Printing, Packaging Designing, Packaging Mechanics and Automation are now in the lead in the National Packaging Higher Education.
    At present, several national packaging organizations have been established here, such as the China Packaging Association and Packaging Education Committee, China Packaging Technology Training Center, China Packaging Design Technology Center, National Supervision Committee for Teaching of Packaging Engineering in Institutions of Higher learning, China Packaging Technology Research Institution, New Packaging Material and Technology Key Lab of China National Packaging Corp-oration.
    The Institute also focuses its scientific research on packaging technology. Two series of textbooks in packaging education have been edited and published, over 20 domestic and international packaging seminars organized, and influential achievements also have been made in 18 different speciality-oriented scientific institutes.

Emphasis on Quality Education

    Carry out reform in teaching contents and course system in 21th century from all sides, and put emphasis on training creative and adaptive and compound intellectuals and establishing the intellectual training aim of "deep base, broad bore, multi-orientation, high quality".
    Coming in to being and carrying out "3+1"(three years plus one year)teaching mode, Zhongshan Packaging College is co-constructed by China Packaging Scientific Research Institute, Zhangjiabian Group Corporation in Zhongshan of to Guangdong, China Packaging Printing and Manufacturing Base and our Institute. After three-year study of theories, the undergraduates of Art Designing, Packaging Engineering, Printing Engineering will go to Zhongshan Packaging College for one-year field work and do graduation so that the operative ability and creativity of students can be ensured. Now, Zhongshan Packaging College has become a practice teaching base for teachers, a field work base for students, a personnel training base for enterprises, a demonstration base for an integration of production, study and research in packaging technology.
    Carry out plan of instructing students according to their aptitudes. The students of Grade-98 begin to take entrance exam in basic courses such as English, Maths, Physics, Computer etc., then the university authority selects parts of excellent students according to their scores and comprehensive quality to train seperately.
    Put "Double-Hundred Project" into effect. Our Institute has emphasized on the training of 100 graduates excellent in English and 100 graduates excellent in computer information-processing and program-writing every year.
    Establish four-year mode of learning in English and computer, and try out teaching major courses all in English.
    Start the "123" project and "developing project" for quality education, that is, persist in cardinal principles of developing consciousness and self-discipline culture in the cultivation of students' intelligence, ability as well as quality, and try to establish the best school spirit and style of study.
    Reform the system of students' optional courses, offer humanity lectures, found diversified associations, reform the mode of social practice and working-study program, and train their ability from varied angles, and in wide range of fields.
